Far away and above the ocean floor, on that ancient barren sea, I found his tapes. All bundled together in a beaten green bag, out of order and unmarked. Endless hours to pore through. I’m not done yet, but I’ve already seen the end – the tape left in the camcorder. It is perhaps those last few moments that so inspired my own journey. Where is he now, is he even alive? And, of course, an equally important question looms.
I’ll release the footage soon, after I can make some sense of it. Some story. Some warning to future explorers.

- In 2006 my friend Jonathan Ichabod Monroe willfully disappeared into the American Southwest and left behind only his car. One year later, while examining The Surface, I came across his duffel bag and camcorder. He had recorded himself, almost endlessly, since the inception of his personal exodus. I am piecing together his journey, and its startling conclusion, in the hopes that his story serves as a cautionary tale to those of us that would seek The Cavern without foresight and care.
